Position Summary:
Reporting to the Technical Director, this seasonal position is responsible for the construction, load in, maintenance, and strike of scenic elements required for a production.
Responsibilities:
• Woodworking
• Metalworking, (MIG welding capability a plus)
• Fabrication and assembly of scenic elements
• Installation, repair and strike of scenery
• May occasionally be asked to be part of an event or production’s run crew, where applicable
• Other reasonable duties as assigned
Skills and Competencies:
• 1-3 years experience with theatrical carpentry and construction
• Knowledge of theatrical rigging
• Ability to read hand-drafted and CAD illustrated technical drawings
• Willingness to adhere to deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow scene shop safety protocols per industry safety standards
• Comfortable working at heights, including loading weight from a fly loft
• Must be comfortable working in bucket and scissor lifts
• Ability to climb and work from ladders
• Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally
Compensation:
This is a seasonal, nonexempt position earning $18.50 per hour for 30-40 hours per week for the duration of the engagement, in addition to 401k, Medical and Vision insurance plans, paid sick time and 3 floating holidays.
